Im very mixed on the game currently because the idea is perfect just the game itself seemed a little rough. The settings for the game a very lackluster, one example is that you can't adjust the music, you can only turn it on or off. You can't even turn off the sound effects like clicking in the menu. Also the lock on feature doesn't work at all and needs to be removed immeditaly plzzzzz. I really want to like this game but I have to force myself to. I give this game an A for effort and creativity, not for the gameplay. Definetly get when on sale!. I don't really know how to describe the game, but it makes you smile.I started off skeptical, since the first three or four levels (~30mins) don't offer much (and I am not such a big fan of the level summary music). But then the game starts surprising you with charming ideas that just spark happiness.I can't complain about the controls either (maybe because they have been improved in the patches). Maybe if I later try to beat the time challenges, some little things could be frustrating, but I am also still learning with only 2 hours on the record. The game is great for having a good time! Go for it!. Yeah pretty accurate how it feels to play Billard, lots of fun!. Updated Review:I am impressed by this game for a number of reasons. I originally had a complaint about mouse and keyboard controls on release. The developer listened to this complaint, and in the most recent patch and beta, this has been fixed. I've been playing it with improved mouse controls and it's completely playable and fun!I'm also impressed by the scope of the game and creativity of the levels. It's quiry and much, much larger than I had originally expected. It's a great cartoon-y billiards-esque game with quirky characters and unconventional game play. I like it a lot, and can reccomend it.Original Review:Until the controls are patched to be useable, I cannot reccomend this game. Aiming and power are totally random chance right now. No mouse support in menus. Ugh.. boring, very easy. Its like Rick took a portal to a billiard universe. Just buy it, I'll be in the garage.. Pool Panic is a quirky, colorful, and very strange (in a good way) twist on the game of pool, with tons of content and variety to sink your teeth into. Dubbed "the world's least realistic pool simulator!" Developed by Rekim Games and published by Adult Swim Games. In Pool Panic you play as a sentient cue ball that has legs and makes absolutely bizarre facial expressions and occasionally looks like a raving lunatic, right off the bat it's pretty obvious that this is not your average game about pool. The art style is very eye catching and unique, it looks like a mix of Rick and Morty and Bobs Burgers. This is the first game from adult swim that actually looks and feels like an adult swim cartoon, with the same style of odd humor. The core gameplay mechanics are the same as any game of pool, knock all the balls into the pockets to win. You maneuver by walking and shooting yourself around with a cue stick, aiming and adjusting the power of each hit can be difficult (especially with a controller) and is a little wonky, but the developers are looking in to it. There's no way to actually fail a level (Apart from the challenge levels), but there are four medals for those who want a challenge. Completing the level in a set amount of time, only taking a specific amount of shots, finishing the level without falling into holes or pockets, and hitting every ball in. I would recommend you just skip over these and just mess around, believe me it's much more fun that way. The overworld is sprawling and fantastic, the areas are varied and fun to discover. There's so much to explore and do that you will end up spending a good chunk of time just wandering out of curiosity, it's so big there's a fast travel system that will take you to the four corners of the map. There are over 100 levels to play as well as plenty of other things like challenges (such as clearing a table in one hit and hard mode), secret levels, collectibles, and mini-games (such as golf and skiing) spread all across the map. Certain levels will effect the map after completion, like after sieging the castle its front wall will be destroyed. This is one of those little details that In my opinion make game worlds more lively and enjoyable. The level designs are very clever and inventive, for the most part, there are a few kind of bland and very irritating ones, but most of the time you'll be doing fun things like: A motorcycle chase, soccer (yes with pool balls), sieging a castle, jousting, ruining a track race, a western shootout, a bank robbery, fighting a giant spider, and a bunch of other crazy creative stuff. The levels keep getting weirder the further you get. The wacky physics and light elements of destruction make for some entertaining and wild levels, where you can just wreck everything and have an amazing time doing so. Ball designs are varied and full of originality, most balls walk and run around the levels, instead of just sitting in one place waiting to get knocked into a pit (apart from the red balls). Each ball type has its own personality and expressions, there are balls that freak out when aimed at, balls that will dodge or jump over you, balls that will charge you, balls that grapple hook out of holes and pits, and many more. Some of these ball types can be very obnoxious when in large groups or paired with other slightly annoying ball types, which does detract from the overall enjoyment of some levels. Pool panic has a multiplayer party mode for those of you who want to enjoy the game with some buddies. Party mode is full of fun little mini-games, like a western shootout, air hockey, zombie survival, sumo wrestling (sort of), and plenty more. There is also a more traditional pool mode where you play on a boring old average pool table, and the player who sinks the most balls wins. I would love it if the story mode was playable with a second player (sadly this probably won't happen), it would be a lot of fun and take some of the annoyance out of the more irritating levels. I did have a problem with the game crashing while in party mode, but it seems like it must have been a problem on my side. So you can take that with a grain of salt. I don't like to nit pick, but there are quite a few problems with this game. The music is occasionally a little too obnoxious, There are very little options in the settings menu (this is currently being fixed), There are a bunch of invisible walls all over the overworld and in a handful of levels (this is one of my pet peeves), There's a graphical glitch where balls or objects will stutter in and out for a second, there are also plenty of objects that can be clipped through in the overworld and in some levels, bad camera angles, a few audio bugs, and some objects will seemingly float right above the ground. These are all things I expect to be patched out in future updates, so it's not to big of a deal breaker. Pool panic may have many problems with it's controls and a good amount of glitches and bugs, but the creative variety in the level and character designs make it worth playing. And in this case the good balances out the bad, it's just good dumb fun. I would recommend waiting for at least a few of the problems to be fixed before buying, unless this really interests you.. Extremely inventive level design and great oddball artstyle. The game is a lot of fun, though controls right now can be very janky, so if you are looking for precision, wait for a patch. Otherwise, its a really enjoyable game. If you are interested, just buy it.EDIT: They have now fixed the controls, so there really isn't much wrong with the game anymore.
